The Karachi Port handled 141,911 tonnes of cargo comprising 74,419 tonnes of import cargo and 67,492 tonnes of export cargo including 5,788 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargos of 74,419 tonnes comprised of 46,162 tonnes of containerised cargo; 10,887 tonnes of bulk cargo; 1,270 tonnes of soyabean seeds; 8,550 tonnes of rock phosphate and 7,550 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 67,492 tonnes comprised of 21,922 tonnes of containerised cargo; 752 tonnes of bulk cargo; 40,820 tonnes of clinker; 2,898 tonnes of rice and 1,100 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 5,788 containers comprising of 3,351 containers import and 2,437 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,101 of 20's and 1,101 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 25 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 575 of 20's and 351 of 40's loaded containers while 156 of 20's and 502 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were three ships namely APL Norway, Stolt Calluna and Lian Gui Hu carrying containers and oil tankers sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were five vessels viz. OOCL Chicago, Kota Kamil, Piraeus, BBC Campana and JY Guardianship carrying containers and general cargo currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 129,490 tonnes comprising 113,454 tonnes of import cargo and 16,036 tonnes of export cargo including 1,470 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargo of 113,454 tonnes includes 9,200 tonnes of palm oil; 19,900 tonnes of mogas; 2,370 tonnes of soyabean seeds; 9,750 tonnes of coal; 6,590 tonnes of phosphoric acid; 1,044 tonnes of palm kernel and 64,600 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 16,036 tonnes includes 16,036 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 1,470 containers comprising of 370 containers import and 1,100 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

There were two ships namely MV Chembulk Westport and MV Vita Ocean carrying chemical and soyabean seeds respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while another ship namely MT MR Tanker carrying diesel oil is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of nine vessels were occupied berths to load/offload containers, rice, coal, soyabean seeds, chemical, palm kernel, LPG, mogas and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as fifteen vessels viz. MV Reem-3, MV GNG Concord, MV Pedhoulas Trader, MV Globe Trotter, MV Li Etta, MV Pacific Activity, MV Baltic Light, MV Elgiznurcebi, MV Navig-8 Azurita, MV Gaschem Nordsee, MT Al-Huwaila, MT Anolipsi, MT NCC Noor, MT Bum Shun and MT Horizon respectively carrying bitumen, soyabean, coal, chemical, mogas, LNG, diesel oil and palm oil were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were six vessels viz. CV Conti Darwin, MV Elgiznurcebi, MV GNG Concord, MV Navig-8 Azurita, MT Al-Huwaila and MT Anolipsi carrying containers, coal, soyabean seeds, chemical, LNG and diesel oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Grains and Furtilizer Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal, Engro Elengy Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Wednesday

There are two ships namely CV Teno and CV Maersk Bentonville carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday.
